Russia's president Vladimir Putin says the IAAF decision to ban the Russian track and field team from this year's Olympic Games in Rio is unjust. He said he hopes to find a solution and will contact the International Olympic Committee and the World Anti-Doping Agency for assistance.

"I hope that we will find a solution here, but this does not at all mean that we plan to get upset and say that we are not prepared to fight doping anymore, on the contrary, we will strengthen the fight against doping."
"I count on us again speaking to anti-doping colleagues within this structure and I hope for a suitable reaction from the International Olympic Committee," Putin said.
