The two heads of state also attended a ceremony to lay the cornerstone for a new Chinese culture center.
The centre will be built on the embassy site, and will be the first center of its kind in the western Balkans area. The street outside the center will be named after the ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius, and the square outside the building will be called the "China-Serbia Friendship Square."
After the ceremony, Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan joined the Serbian President and his wife to visit the city's Kalemegdan Park and Belgrade Fortress, the most important historical site in the Serbian capital.
