We've seen enough of it since the flood season began, but the greatest rainfall is being seen in Southern China right now. From Southwestern Chongqing, Guizhou, and Guangxi, all the way to Zhejiang and Fujian province in the coastal areas, the whole area has witnessed torrential rain over the last two days. Up to 250 millimeters of precipitation has been recorded in some of these regions.

The meteorological authority has put in place its second highest warning for rain in South China, and says even heavier downpours are expected over the coming few days. However, there IS some good news, as the rainy spells are expected to ease by Saturday.

But until then, it's ferocious rain across the entire Southern belt. And for some places, this may mean the worst thunderstorms and strong winds seen this year.

Rain, rain and even more rain, all across Southern China.  From the Chongqing municipality to Fujian province, in cities and the countryside, rain and ensuing floods are making headlines and causing traffic chaos. The driver of this car in Guangxi scrambled onto his roof to be rescued. But elsewhere, some are stuck. 

"It's was all empty just an hour ago. When I came back, it's like this. It's impossible to move now," said local resident.

Many were stranded. But they should probably be counting their blessings. In other places, the heavy rain shattered walls and dams, and washed crop fields and investment down the drain.

"This fridge, and the washing machine were all washed out of my home by the flood. The water came up so quickly. What else can you do? You can only run for yourself," said local resident.

"My store up there is flooded. The water has risen to at least one meter high, maybe 1 and a half meters," said local resident.

The result of a collision between cold and warm fronts,  the rain across Southern China is expected to continue through the next few days and expected to relent by the weekend.
