For more on this, we're now joined in the studio by Liu Huawen. He's the executive director of the Center for Human Rights Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

Q1. We know that the latest National Human Rights Action Plan is the second of its kind. Why did China make that plan in the first place? What did it aim to accomplish?

Q2. How did making that Action Plan help with China's human rights process? What's your take on the major achievements made between 2012 and 2015?

Q3. As the evaluation report points out, much remains to be done in protecting human rights. What are some of the priorities in future efforts? Where will this important cause go from here?
