Stars hit the red carpet at the Shanghai Film Festival

The red carpet was rolled out on Saturday for the 19th Shanghai International Film Festival. And like previous years, it turned out to be a star-studded event attended by hundreds of celebrities and industry professionals from around the globe.

Some of the biggest names in both Asian and western cinema were in attendance, including Kungfu and movie star Jackie Chan, Chinese actress Fan Bingbing, and American actor Bradley Cooper who got his big break in The Hangover. A line up of other international stars also graced the red carpet including, veteran actor Ian Mckellen and Italian actress Maria Grazia Cucinotta. About 600 films will screen at the festival, which runs from June 11th to the 19th.

This year's biggest draw is Werner Herzog's latest offering 'Salt and Fire' - one of 14 films competing for the festival's top award, the Golden Goblet. Since it was initiated in 1993, the Shanghai International Film Festival has been an A-category international film festival and one of the largest film festivals in East Asia.
