Venezuela's opposition leader Henrique Capriles has denied an accusation of collecting fraud signatures, for a recall referendum against President Nicolas Maduro. During a rally in the country's capital, the former presidential candidate rejected the invalidation of the signatures and called for demonstrations in Caracas and other cities.
"Showing signatures for recall referendum is a political right and it's the expression of millions of Venezuelans - that four women have to respect. Either they like it or not," said Henrique Capriles opposition leader.
Venezuelan President Maduro has said that his government would not accept fraud in a recall, and if it happens, it would have to wait till next year. The country's National Electoral Council, after reviewing signatures for more than a month, said that more than six hundred thousand of them, out of one point nine million, were invalid. The electoral body said those signatures showed problems with fingerprints, identities and certification.
