French President Francois Hollande has praised the country's transport services and security efforts for the upcoming Euro 2016 soccer championships. He said everything is being done to make the event a success. He added that the transport system will make it easier for spectators to reach the stadiums.
"Yes, everything has been put in place to make this Euro a success. Visitors have been able to come to the stadium with no difficulty at all. It all went smoothly with rail transportation, or the metro, and also for cars. So everything is set," said Francois Hollande.
French authorities have tightened security for the event. Around 13,000 security personnel will patrol stadiums and fan areas. An additional 1,200 will be deployed around landmarks. The fan zone under the Eiffel Tower can accommodate up to 92,000 people.
Fans will have to pass through security checkpoints and any liquids or sprays will be confiscated. A second security screening will take place before spectators are finally passed into the fan zone.
