Today is China Population Day and to mark the event, here are some official statistics about the most populous country on Earth.

By the end of 2015, China had a total population of almost one point four billion people. Of those, around fifty one per cent were male and nearly forty nine per cent were female.

In 2015 China's natural growth rate dropped by zero point zero two five per cent, some three hundred and forty thousand less than in the previous year. By the end of 2015, some 22 million more people moved into cities compared with the same period in 2014.
