It's an exciting time for football fans all over the world, with Euro 2016 now underway in France. But the tournament will also prove a testing time for the Paris government, as a strike by rubbish collectors continues across the city.

Workers decided to extend industrial action until June 14th. They are angry at the government's refusal to negotiate over a contested labor reform law. Paris's Mayor said about 50 private rubbish trucks had been dispatched overnight to rid the city of waste left piled up by striking workers.

"I don't support the strike by rubbish collectors, it makes trouble for the catering services industry, and also brings inconvenience to tourists. It gives a bad impression of Paris...and even France as a whole. This is not pleasant. For us, a top-class restaurant, the customers won't be pleased to see it's surrounded by rubbish, it's really horrible," said a man.
