The country's electoral office said Kuczynski won 50-point-12 percent of all tallied votes, over 49-point-88 percent for Keiko Fujimori, the daughter of a jailed former president. That's a narrow margin of just over 41-thousand votes. But there are still thousands of disputed or unclear ballots to be counted.

The 77-year-old Kuczynski said he would wait for final results before claiming victory. Meanwhile, Fujimori's allies in Congress claimed to have detected irregularities, and have asked authorities to annul bundles of ballots from various different voting stations. The lawmakers however said they would accept the official results.
