A plane carrying deceased Chinese peacekeeper Shen Liangliang has just arrived in northeastern city of Changchun, where the sergeant used to serve in the army.

Senior military officials and relatives attended a ceremony to honour Sergeant First Class Shen. The 29-year-old's body will be later sent back to his hometown Wenxian County in Henan Province for burial. Also on board the plane is Yang Zhancheng, one of the five peacekeepers injured in the recent attack in Mali.

On the evening of May 31st, a camp of the Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali, or MINUSMA, in the northern city of Gao became the target of an attack by the North African branch of al-Qaeda, Al Nusra.
