A car bomb attack by Kurdish Workers' Party militants has hit a police station in the southeastern Turkish province of Mardin.

The explosion happened in the town of Midyat in the morning. Three people were killed and 30 others were injured. Police clashed with PKK militants after the explosion.

The attack comes just a day after 11 people were killed in a bombing in Istanbul. Turkish residents expressed concern for their safety.

"It has really become the norm. People and politicians are used to terror everywhere - in Istanbul, in Ankara, in Izmir, in the East, in the West," said Hasan Donmez, shop owner.

"We believe that the current atmosphere is not joyful. We don't feel safe as residents. We want the government to take the necessary measures and make us feel safe. We cannot say we are happy with the course of events," said Emre Karaagac, resident of Ankara.
