Chinese ambassador Lu Huiying said the embassy is raising basic necessities for the peacekeepers in Gao.

"After the terrorist attack on May 31, the embassy and I have been in close contact with the frontline in Gao. We made several calls every day to get information. After knowing that the peacekeeping forces lack basic daily necessities like washing powder, shampoo and slippers, we managed to raise some and transfer them to Gao through the UN plane. When the Chinese military medical team returned from Gao, they told us that the peacekeepers are in dire need of supplies. So, we are also in the midst of raising more supplies to ensure their daily needs are met, so they can complete their tasks," said Lu Huiying Chinese ambassador to Mali.
