China will encourage the publication of Chinese books abroad, by offering copyrights to more overseas publishing houses.
According to China Book International, the number of China's book copyright exports has increased by four fold from 2007 to 2015, making Chinese literature more accessible to overseas readers.
During the eight-year period, China cooperated with over 500 publishing houses abroad, including Penguin, Random House, and Cambridge University Press.
"China has set up over four hundred publishing bureau branches abroad, and has cooperated with some five hundred publishing bureaus from seventy countries. We have published a host of books for international readers, which explain China's road, theory and system. The efforts aim to make the international community understand contemporary China better," said Li Zhihui with State Council Information office.
"The breakthroughs mainly come from the rising number and growing influence of the books that we export," said Li Yongqiang, president of China Renmin University Press.
