Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for China and the US to promote a healthy and stable development of relations through increased exchanges and cooperation.
President Xi made the remarks during a meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry and Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew. They were in Beijing for an eighth round of China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue.
Xi Jinping said three years ago he and US President Barack Obama agreed to work together to build a new form of major-country relations. Xi Jinping said the two countries should strengthen coordination on macro-economic policy, strive for more positive outcomes at the upcoming G20 summit in Hangzhou in East China, and inject new impetus into the world economy.
He said the two countries have differences, but they should respect each other's core interests and major concerns, and settle problems through dialogue and consultation.
