A specialist medical team from China has arrived in the Malian capital Bamako.
The team has been in touch with the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission and the Chinese embassy. They have learned more about the current situation facing Chinese peacekeepers in the country and have drafted a plan for follow-up measures.
The team is scheduled to fly to the UN camp in Gao on Saturday morning. During the attack, a 29-year-old Chinese peacekeeper, First Sergeant Shen Liangliang was killed, and another five soldiers were wounded, including Lieutenant Liu Liang, two first sergeants, a sergeant and a corporal.
