Tibet is on the agenda in Budapest, capital of Hungary, which has received a visit from a Chinese official delegation. Their message was encapsulated in a speech at the National University of Public Service.

Delegation leader Hao Shiyuan, of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, delivered his address entitled "The History and Reality of Tibet: Fact and Truth" to more than a hundred students, scholars, and representatives.

He talked about Tibet's history, culture, and ecological environment and presented photographs to portray the Chinese government's social, economic, and cultural initiatives.

The delegation later visited the university's Museum of Oriental Treasures, which stores manuscripts written by Hungarian philologist and Orientalist Alexander Csoma, author of the first Tibetan-English dictionary and grammar book, in the 19th century.

Hungarian officials also showed great interest in Tibetan culture, noting friendship between China and Hungary has a long history.
