The UN peacekeeping mission in Mali was attacked on Tuesday evening, leaving one Chinese peacekeeper dead and five others injured. The Foreign Ministry says China will continue to support peacekeeping operations.
" China is a permanent member of the UN Security Council, and it's an honourable responsibility China is willing to take. Yesterday Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed that China's commitment to safeguard the peace in Africa and the world will not change. China's efforts to help the African countries to achieve peace and stability will not weaken. China will continue to support UN peacekeeping operations, and safeguard the UN's core role in the international affairs," said Hua Chunying, spokesperson of Chinese Foreign Ministry.
