Iraqi forces have continued to push into the city of Fallujah, and are now targeting positions held by the Islamic State group.

But Iraqi officers said they cannot carry out as many airstrikes as they did before because a number of civilians still remain in the city, slowing down military operations.

The US-led coalition meanwhile claimed to have carried out four airstrikes that hit ISIL's fighting positions, weapons cache, and a tunnel system in and around Fallujah since Wednesday.

The city remains to be one of ISIL's last strongholds in Iraq.
