China’s weather authority has renewed a blue alert for rainstorms in southern and eastern provinces.
The National Meteorological Center says parts of Guizhou, Hunan, Guangxi and Jiangxi provinces will be lashed by heavy rain in the coming 24 hours.
Precipitation in some of these areas will likely reach 100-130 millimeters. Thunderstorms and gales are also expected in northern Guangxi and southeastern Jiangxi.
The center has advised precautionary measures against floods and possible landslides. The blue alert is the lowest-level on China’s four-tier color-coded weather warning system.
