China says it supports civil groups' bid to list records about the so-called "comfort women" on the UNESCO Memory of the World Register.

China's Foreign ministry says the forced recruitment of comfort women is a grave crime against humanity committed by the Japanese militarists during World War Two.

It says documents should be valued and preserved as the memory of all mankind.
