The World Bank estimates that Myanmar's economy grew by seven percent in 2015 to 2016 financial year. That's down from the previous year's 8.5 percent.
The bank had forecast growth of 8.2 percent. It attributes the decline to heavy monsoon rain, ongoing structural constraints, short-term exchange rate pressures and rising inflation. But it says the country's overall economic prospects remain strong. Authorities in Myanmar do not release official economic data.
