A group of artists have unveiled a large wall painting of David Bowie in Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia. It celebrates the life and career of the British recording artist who died of cancer in January.

The super-sized depiction shows Bowie in various incarnations under an inscription reading "fashion changes, but you'll always be my heroes". Sketches for the 13-metre-high and 10.5-metre-wide artwork were made by Marvel-Comics illustrator, Sarajevan Enis Cisic, and painted on a wall by a group of local artists and Bowie fans who worked on the project for nearly 4 months.

The mural is located in a disused part of the Sarajevo University campus that was once used as an army barracks and partially destroyed during Bosnia's 1992-95 war. Several hundred Bowie fans, including a representative of the U.K. Embassy in Bosnia, Matthew Lawson, attended the unveiling.
