The final stage of men's volleyball qualification is underway. The top three teams at the event plus the best ranked Asian side qualify for the Rio Games. And China would have a tough opponent, facing tournaments hosts Japan -- who also happen to be reigning Asian champs.
Pick things up in the opening set tied at 11 -- with China receiving the serve, and the block off the wall, gives them the advantage.
And a service winner gives the team in blue a four-point edge, as they go on to take the frame 25-20.
The pressure from the home crowd is perhaps too great for the Asian champs, as they drop the second set by a 25-22 count, and are on the verge of being swept.
The hosts seem to have their game in gear in the third, and the service winner gives them a 19-17 lead.
But the Chinese are able to go on a late run, thanks to some good blocking at the net -- and another on match point gives them a straight sets win -- 25-20, 25-22, 25-23.
China face Venezuela on Tuesday.
