It's a bus; it's a train; it's both. A brand new kind of public transportation has just been unveiled to audiences in the nineteenth China Beijing International Hi-tech Expo. It carries as many passengers as the metro, and it runs like a bus on the road.
More importantly, it does not affect traffic, because other vehicles can simply drive under it. The Chinese designed "Bus Train" can each carry 12 to 14 hundred passengers on its upper deck.
It has a maximum speed of 60 kilometers an hour. And it only costs about one fifth of the metro. The prototype of the "Bus Train" is currently being built, and will debut in the coastal city of Qinhuangdao in north China's Hebei province this August.
