China and the European Union will strengthen coordination and communication to ensure a successful G20 summit.

In a conversation with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi said he hoped both sides would make full use of various mechanisms to advance relations. Yang noted that the G20 is a major forum for international economic cooperation and plays an irreplaceable role in global economic governance. He said China is ready to work with the EU to ensure positive results in formulating innovative growth strategies.

Mogherini expressed the EU's willingness to cooperate.
