The remarks came after Taiwan's new leader Tsai ing-wen skirted mention of the "One China" concensus in her inauguration speech when she  took office on May 20th. Beijing also condemned the Tsai administration for changing the title of Taiwan's representative to the United States into ambassdor.

"The identification and status of Taiwan's represative office in the US and the head of that office is very clear. We strongly oppose any action to create "two Chinas", "one China, one Taiwan" and "Taiwan Independence.

All achievements between the two sides are made upon the fundamental 1992 Consensus. Upholding the One China principle is the only way to ensure that achievements of insititutionalized contact between the two side will not be affected," said Ma Xiaoguang, Spokesperson of Taiwan Affairs Office of The State Council.
