Visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has met with his Kazakh counterpart Erlan Idrissov in Astana for talks on strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership.

Wang expressed China’s willingness to increase high level communication in a range of fields, as well as to support Astana’s Expo 2017. He also called for more industrial capacity cooperation to bring benefits to both countries.

Wang said cooperation in connectivity, agriculture and investment will be strengthened. Kazakhstan is on the route of the Belt & Road connectivity initiative that is pushed by China, and Idrissov said Kazakhstan highly values the project.
