Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to arrive in Tehran on Sunday evening local time for his two-day visit. He aims to spruce up bilateral ties by signing major economic cooperation agreements. Modi will be accompanied by a high-ranking politico-economic delegation.

Analysts say India's core interest in Iran still lies in energy, and Modi's visit is likely to majorly push the joint exploration of the country's major gas fields, and the development of the Farzad B gas project. Also high on the agenda is India's investment in Iran's Chabahar port city, as well as the construction of petrochemical and urea fertilizer plants.
