Tourism ministers and the heads of the delegations of the G-20 member states discussed the sustainable development of tourism during a meeting under China’s G-20 presidency in Beijing on Friday.
Vice Premier Wang Yang called for more cooperation among the member states to expand the tourist market during the meeting's opening ceremony.
The meeting released a declaration that stressed tourism as a driver of economic growth that will contribute to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
The declaration called tourism a major job generator and effective tool to promote development and social inclusion. The G20 tourism ministers and heads of tourism agreed to advance the contributions of tourism to the achievement of the UN sustainable development targets.
