French authorities have tightened security at three major airports in Paris, with thousands of security personnel patrolling daily. The missing EgyptAir jet departed from Charles-de-Gaulle Airport's Terminal One on Thursday and the police have started investigating ground staff who worked there at that time.

Charles-de-Gaulle is the second largest airport in Europe, and the ninth-businest in the world for passenger traffic.

Meanwhile, French-based aircraft manufacturer Airbus has not released a formal response or statement regarding the missing EgyptAir jet.
