US suspicion of China easy to make strategic misjudgment

The United States recently released its new Report on China Military and Security Development, an extension of its ten years survey entitled "report on Chinese military strength". This document illustrates suspicion of China's military development and possible influence in security matters.

Neither fabricating such a "report" nor distorting China's military development is a feasible action taken by a responsible great power like the US.

And there are doubts and questions in the report.

Firstly, the comments are based on unreal military facts and highbrow hearsay. Secondly, the so-called "military threat of China" conclusion was drawn from its own need of military development. Thirdly, it fabricated the direction and possible impact of China's military development intentionally. Lastly, the report turned the "spotlight" on China to cause international attention.

In fact, the purposes of the Pentagon are not hard to see.

It wanted a theory to support its adjustment of global hegemony to strategically target the Asia-Pacific region and more specifically China. It then painted a picture of a threatening China in order to get more investment from its government and Congress to support its military forces.

Seemingly, the US Department of Defense may get its way, but at a cost that should not be underestimated, which is the probability that the US strategy makers might conclude misjudgment on the future development of China-US military and security relations.

Goebbels, the propaganda minister of the Nazi German, once said that a lie may become truth after been said a thousand times.

The Pentagon seems likely to repeatedly create suspicions about China's military issues and purposely produce wrong evidence for their strategy makers, which may undermine the construction of the China-US strategic framework.

This is a very irresponsible act.

The China-US relation is the most important relationship in Asia-Pacific region that has influence over the military situation and direction of security in this region.

Once the strategy makers have a miscalculation of China's military development based on the "report", there will very probably be a negative influence over China-US relations.

At present, the US is increasing its military presence in the Asia-Pacific region with an attempt to suppress China's military influence and vindicate its predominance.

That, along with the arbitrary employment of military power, would enormously raise the odds of military collision and friction between US and China.

One of the conditions for the current "global stability" is that no real military fight has happened between big countries even though "military games" between US and Russia are constantly being played on the international stage.

Once the US provokes China on military matters, China would not hold back. And then the secure and stable state of the Asia-Pacific region will be interrupted and even broken with serious consequences.

It is not the lies fabricated by the US Department of Defense on China's military strength that are terrible, but rather, the  strategic misjudgments made by high-level US policy makers.
