A spokesman from the Chinese National Bureau of Statistics said Wednesday that the country’s economy has been stable in April, with structural changes continued to deepen.
Although a series of data including industrial output and investment missed expectations, the official said the fluctuation has been mild when last year’s large base is accounted for. Structural changes continued in China as the contribution of consumption to the economy rose 22 percentage points year on year to 84.7 percent in the first quarter.
Producer prices have also began to reverse its downward trend. Nevertheless, the NBS recognizes the pressure on China’s economy this year.
