Chinese sprinter Xie equals personal best at 10.12 seconds
In a highly anticipated main event, three of China's top sprinters would be among those challenging Athens Games gold medalist Justin Gatlin in the men's 100-meter dash. But the American would win in 9.94 seconds, edging compatriot Mike Rodgers, and the PRC's Xie Zhenye, who equals his personal best of 10.12 seconds.
China's Xie finishes in second place in 13.48 seconds
After false starting and suffering a disqualification in Shanghai, world record holder and reigning Olympic gold medalist Aries Merritt would change his schedule and make an unexpected trip to the capital. It pays off as he wins the men's 110-meter hurdles in 13.24 seconds, ahead of Chinese rival Xie Wenjun, who takes silver in 13.48.
Huang & Tang claim next two spots for Chinese podium sweep
The men's long jump would be another highlight of the night, as Chinese athletes sweep the podium, with Gao Xinglong repeating his Shanghai success by taking lead honors in Beijing with a mark of 8.23 meters. Huang Changzhou and Tang Gongchen round out the Top Three.
PRC compatriot Cao ends up second followed by Cuba's Copello
In the men's triple jump, indoor world champion Dong Bin would clinch another title, as he tallies a distance of 17.24 meters to win going away. PRC compatriot Cao Shuo finishes second, followed by Cuba's Alexis Copello.
Fleet foursome aiming for medal performance at Rio Olympics
China would also compete in the 4×100 meter relay, but the combination that made history by earning silver at last year's World Championships has added a new face, with Yang Yang replacing Mo Youxue due to injury, and helping the team cross the line first against four young domestic quartets in a time of 38.21 seconds, as the PRC men continue their preparations for the Rio Summer Olympics.
