The United Nations World Tourism Organization, along with China, is holding the first ever international conference on tourism for development in Beijing. Six hundred delegates from 107 countries and regions, along with more than 1,000 related personnel in China, are talking part in the four-day event.
Under the theme ‘Tourism for Peace and Development,’ the event aims to kick start a high level debate on the contribution of tourism to the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals. These include job creation, promoting culture and advocating sustainable consumption.
The conference will feature two sessions focusing on Tourism for Poverty and Tourism for Peace.
