Venezuelan opposition leader Henrique Capriles has urged Venezuelans to not recognize President Nicolas Maduro's emergency decree, which gave him expanded powers to deal with the economic crisis. Last Friday, Maduro decreed a "state of exception and economic emergency". It extended Maduro's special powers for another 60 days.
"Absolutely void, this decree is unconstitutional. And Maduro isn't above the constitution. No minister is above the constitution. This decree here gives him powers to do anything. We are not going to accept this decree, we're not accepting it. And I call on Venezuelans to not recognize this decree if Maduro insists on implementing this decree," Venezuelan opposition leader Henrique Capriles said.
