The booming Chinese box-office is looking forward to another record season as the next crop of Hollywood blockbusters come into view. But China is also mounting an impressive array of home-grown movies. Between them, they've got almost every genre covered.

"Captain America: Civil War" leads the pack of imported films. The third instalment of the franchise pits two teams of Avengers against one another and introduces new superheroes Black Panther and Spider Man.

"They have this friendship from youth. It's really taken from by this war, tragically. As a result, both men have lost quite a bit," said Chris Evans, lead actor of "Captain America: Civil War".

Upcoming flicks include game turned animation film "Angry Birds" and the sequel to Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland", featuring the original cast, including Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter.

Meanwhile, some silver-screen gems are on the way from China, including the art-house film, 'Distance', starring actress Jiang Wenli and young heart-throb actor, Chen Bailin.

It's a story about friendship and love, with three parallel storylines taking place in different cities, with directors from China, Singapore, and Thailand.

And the China-France co-production "Night Peacock" is directed by Dai Sijie, previously nominated at the Golden Globes for "Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress", another China-France co-production. "Night Peacock" stars two Golden-Horse-Award winning actors, Liu Ye and Leon Lai.

Also in the Summer line-up are the China-South Korea sci-fi thriller 'Memento Mori'; and China-Thailand co-production, 'Witch Doctor', a horror movie.

So whatever movie genre you're into, this Summer offers plenty to choose from.
