Full coverage: Top Chinese legislator attends Belt and Road Summit

China's top legislator Zhang Dejiang has called on the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to take full advantage of opportunities created by the Belt and Road Initiative.

In a keynote address at a summit in Hong Kong, he said the central government is attaching great importance to Hong Kong's prosperity and stability as well as its role in national strategy. Zhang said another important issue is Hong Kong developing closer links with the Chinese mainland, and expanding global economic and trade ties.

He added that the central government will also support Hong Kong in strengthening its position as a hub for global offshore RMB business.

Zhang has called on Hong Kong to play a more active role in national development strategy, and to jointly develop markets along the route of the Belt and Road Initiative.
