The chief negotiator for China's entry into the World Trade Organization, Long Yongtu has called a recent resolution by the European Parliament 'protectionist', saying it runs counter to open trade.
The comment was in response to a non-binding resolution passed Thursday, which urged the EU not to grant China market economy status. Long said the European Parliament made the resolution to please European governments. Long also stressed China will have a favorable and open market environment, only if globalization is sustained.
