Mind control may sound like something only seen in the realms of science fiction. But now, engineering students in Florida are pushing the edge of what's possible with brain-wave technology, as it crosses over into the consumer world.
Touted as the first event EVER of its kind, engineering students at the University of Florida in Gainesville competed in a mind control race using drones. Using brainwave readers, students lifted their drones off the gym floor and flew them down a track. All without a joystick or handheld controller.
While implanted devices are more powerful, non-invasive brainwave readers are becoming popular and the costs are starting to come down. The headsets in this Florida competition cost some 500 US Dollars each.
