World number one Novak Djokovic was taking on Brazil's Thomaz Bellucci in the third round of the Italian Open. Djoker is the two-time defending champ at this clay court event, but the top seed had to work hard in his opening match against qualifier Stephane Robert and he would face an even greater test in Bellucci who does something no one had against the Serbinator in four seasons.

And that would be bagel him in the first set. Bellucci in the near court with the forehand winner takes the first frame 6-0, but that can't last, can it?

The answer is no. Djoker takes the second 6-3 and is now up a break at 2-1 in the decider and looking much more himself. He draws the Brazilian in with a drop shot then finishes with a volley to the open court.

And on match point, the super Serb would close it out when Bellucci finds the net, and Djokovic is moving on to the quarter-finals.

King of Clay to meet Djokovic in quarter-finals

That would be Australia's Nick Kyrgios serving to Rafael Nadal. After Kyrgios took the first set in a tiebreak, Rafa bounced back to claim the second 6-2 and now has a break point early in the decider. Although the Aussie is not known as a clay court specialist, he holds his own against the seven time Italian Open champion known as the King of Clay, who is going to whip a beautiful forehand to the corner and then follow with his trademark fist pump.

The Spaniard now has match point and a victory here would give him a 49-4 career record in Rome, and he gets it when Kyrgios hits the net, but win number 50 will be much tougher as he faces Djokovic in the quarter-finals. (SWIPE)

Second seeded Scot sets up quarter-final with Goffin

Now we've got Andy Murray looking to close out his first set against Jeremy Chardy at love. The second seeded Scot in the far court has been looking impressive on clay, his least favourite surface, and he takes the frame 6-0 with a forehand down the line.

Chardy would be much more competitive in the second, but Murray now has match point at 5-4. The Frenchman plays a drop shot, but Murray turns on the jets and Chardy can't control the volley. A quick and convincing 77minute win for the Scot who is moving on to the quarter-finals.

But many other top seeds will not be as Juan Monaco upset the fourth sed and French Open champion Stan Wawrinka in three sets. 13th seeded Austrian Dominic Thiem eliminated an ailing Roger Federer in straight sets, and David Goffin double bageled eighth seeded Thomas Berdych.
