The impact of the new tariff policy

The new tariff policy has had a huge impact on e-business parks around the country. The Xiasha cross-border e-commerce pilot zone in east China's Hangzhou is the first such zone in the nation. Statistics show, just two weeks after the policy was announced, the amount of daily orders it has received shrank to only about 46,000, down more than 40 percent from earlier times.

And just one week after the new policy launched, other e-commerce pilot zones in southern Guangdong's Shenzhen , and eastern Zhejiang's Ningbo have witnessed an over 60 percent decrease in orders. As for the e-business park in central Henan's Zhengzhou, it's a whopping 70 percent plunge.

Last week, several ministries and other authorities did some intensive research on the effect of the new policy, and solicited opinions from some of the country's big online retail websites such as Tmall Global, Jumei.com, and vip.com. Authorities say that the nation will support cross-border e-commerce and the policy is not aimed at restricting its development
