Game Five of the Western Semi-Finals. Golden State would be looking to close out the Portland Trail Blazers and advance to the Conference Championship Round just one day after point guard Steph Curry was named the first unanimous MVP in league history. And the leader of the reigning titleholders would be celebrate by dishing out passes to keep all of his teammates involved in this contest, especially fellow "Splash Brother" Klay Thompson.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver on hand to present Curry with his second straight Most Valuable Player Trophy in front of the fans in Oakland, who predictably erupt into chants of "MVP! MVP!" as he lifts up the statuette.
Rip City looking to spoil the party as Damian Lillard steps back to drill three of his 28 points, putting Portland up by seven in the first quarter.
But midway through the second Q, Draymond Green finds Thompson for a trey from the wing. That cuts the gap to three, and Thompson would finish with 33 points.
Mo Harkless misfires after half-time, but CJ McCollum comes away with the rebound and puts it back to keep the Blazers in front. CJ Mac on his way to 27 points.
The Dubs continue to chip away as Curry pulls up for a three-ball. That gives the champions the lead, and his wife Ayesha says that's "her" MVP making all that noise.
Rip City would hang tough as Allan Crabbe pinches the net for three of his 20 points, cutting the deficit to one.
Later in the fourth quarter, Curry kicks to Andre Igoudala for the trifecta, and the MVP of last year's NBA Finals puts Golden State up four.
And in the final 30 seconds, it's Curry with the arcing dagger -- 29 points and 11 assists for the man of the hour as the Warriors take the series four games to one -- and the champs are heading back to the Western Conference Finals.
