The China Earthquake Networks Center has reported a magnitude-6.2 earthquake in Taiwan. It hit the waters just east of the coastal city of Yilan at 11:17 a.m. Beijing Time.
The tremor struck at a depth of 15 kilometres, and was felt as far as 60 kilometers away, in the city of Taipei. Two after-shocks measuring magnitude-4.4 struck just minutes later. A third after-shock measuring magnitude 5.5 took place about an hour after the initial earthquake.
There has been no immediate reports of damage.
