Language schools in Japan are enjoying a boom in business these days. That's thanks to peoples' interest in studying English ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Show you the economic impact of the language boom.

As Tokyo gears up to host the 2020 Olympic Games, Japan is taking on its own notorious English-speaking phobia.

It aims to make Tokyo more English-capable as the city prepares for the Games.

To achieve that, “English villages”are being established in Tokyo. The villages are language education facilities aimed at improving students' communications ability through the use of an all-English environment.

Language schools are in hot demand. Japan's economy ministry says 8,000 English language learning centers are tutoring an estimated 4.5 million people. That number is expected to grow as the Olympics approach.

"Hope people will come to Tokyo and communicate with Japanese people in English," said an English learner.

Japan wants to double its current annual number of 20 million visitors to 40 million by 2020.

And to accommodate those visitors, Tokyo plans to have 35,000 English-ready volunteers on hand in the capital city, and bilingual signs at most tourist sites. Many restaurants will also offer English menus.
