Personal Description
Stephen Gibbs has been a correspondent in Latin America for the last ten years. He is currently based in Sao Paulo. Previously he was the BBC’s correspondent in Mexico (2008-2010) and before that, the corporation's correspondent in Cuba (2002-2007).
During the course of his career he has reported some significant breaking news events, including the 2009 coup in Honduras, the illness of Fidel Castro in 2006, the 2004 rebellion in Haiti and the second Palestinian Intifada in the year 2000. He is a published author of 6 children's books. Stephen read English Literature at Cambridge University.
