More than 100 Syrian and Iraqi refugees have arrived in Rome from Lebanon to start a new life.
Their first meal of Arab cuisine was served up at a soup kitchen run by an Italian charity. These refugees are being resettled as part of a project aimed at establishing safe and legal humanitarian corridors into Europe.
The project aims to house 1,000 Syrian refugees in two years, with government assistance. Another 97 refugees are expected to make the journey in February next year.
