Finance ministers and central bank governors from the ASEAN nations and China, Japan and South Korea are attending a conference in Frankfurt in Germany. Lou Jiwei, Chinese Finance Minister, said at a press conference after the meeting that China will continue its economic structural reforms to boost growth.
“China will continue its structural reforms to maintain medium to high speed of economic growth and this will also do good to the overall economic picture in East Asia,” Lou said.
Leaders at the Frankfurt ASEAN meeting said East Asia has maintained fast economic growth despite a sluggish global economy. But downward pressure still looms because of low global demand and deflationary risks.
Nations at the meeting agreed to continue necessary fiscal and monetary policies to regain confidence and boost growth. They also agreed to watch closely over the capital market and eliminate potential risks brought by sudden large scale cross-border capital flows.
