Around 160 exhibitors from China and abroad are taking part in Art Beijing 2016, now in its 11th edition at the National Agriculture Exhibition Center. Since its inception in 2006, the annual event has continued adapting to market trends. It now includes a section called "Design Beijing" and even places to stop and get desserts!

Alexander Roslin's portraits, Paul Cornoyer's impressionist style, and George Henry Hall's still-lifes. These are among the highlights gracing Art Beijing's Classic Pavilion. And the event is continuing to grow in international clout.

But this exhibition is not solely about turning museum pieces into merchandise. Organizers acknowledge Art Beijing, held every year from April the 30th to May the 3rd to include the May Day holiday, is proving increasingly popular as a holiday destination. This has encouraged enhancements to the visitor experience.

Meanwhile, the booths in the Contemporary Pavilion are larger and more flexible than usual, allowing space for thematic art projects. And, along with the Classical and Contemporary pavilions, there is now a third element, Design.

The 25,000-square-meter exhibition hall has been compared to a superstore by its organizers. Whether you're young or old, or whether you favour classical painting or contemporary, there's something for you. But even if you're not into painting of any era, the Design Pavilion holds plenty of fascination!

Eye-catching, stylish, and full of avant-garde visions, "Design Beijing" was initiated at the fair last year. This time, there are new elements, such as furniture brands.

Though the Design element may not be the purist's cup of tea, there's no doubt it's raising the event's profile with the general public.
