China’s railway authorities have added extra trains into service to cope with the post-holiday travel rush. Railway officials are expecting passengers to book 45 million train trips over the three-day weekend, 9.7 percent more than last year.
Passenger trips hit 10 million Sunday. Railway authorities have temporarily prolonged the operating time for online ticketing systems. Travelers can check vacant seat information and book tickets online half an hour before departure time.
Meanwhile, Beijing Capital Airport is expected to receive nearly 280,000 travelers today as the May Day holiday ends. Authorities said air tickets are still available for most airlines.
